I’m Darren Stehle, Creator and Host of the Show.
As a life coach, I help queer people discover how to best express their difference and uniqueness to freely create the life they want.
On the podcast, I discuss the unique and vital socio-cultural contributions that LGBTQ+ people offer humanity. I critique the status quo and heteronormativity and offer solutions to create a more loving and accepting world.
If you’re anything like me you want to create or do something that will make the world a better place.
One of my goals for the podcast is to produce two deep-dive interviews per month with Queer Leaders and change-makers, including allies, who are making a difference that impacts and improves the lives of LGBTQ people and humanity. I want my interviews to have an educational impact on my listeners, to help you think critically and to gain new strategies to make your life more fulfilling and to make a difference in the world.
Why Support a Queer Creator?
We live in a capitalist society. We pay money for products or services that provide value and improve our lives. I am passionate about helping others, but I also need to earn income to live and to keep creating thoughtful, inspiring content.
Google, Facebook, Twitter, and other dominant social media platforms depend upon users (like me) to provide free content. What you read, watch, search, and click online is tracked and monitored by those platforms to create a psychological profile of your habits in order to send you targeted advertising. In other words, what you do online dictates the kind of advertising you are exposed to.
If you read any of the larger news websites you see advertising all over the page, often interrupting up the article after a paragraph or popping up and disrupting your reading experience.
While I respect and understand why many podcasters run advertisements at the start of their show and sometimes throughout the episode, my choice of not running advertisements on the podcast is intentional. Most importantly, I don’t want to interrupt the flow just to benefit an advertiser and secondly, I don’t want to promote something unless I believe in it or if it requires any kind of control or limitation on my content.
How Does Your Support for Think Queerly Help?
The average duration of a Think Queerly episode is 25 minutes, which takes about 3 hours of total production time. An interview is usually a 75-minutes, but from start to finish I will spend 6-10 total hours doing research, preparation, guest correspondence, administration, sound editing, writing show notes, and post-production.
With your financial support, I will be able to eventually outsource the most time-consuming portions of podcasting, including editing and production. That recovered time will allow me to create and deliver more exceptional, queer content!
If you’ve been listening to the Podcast for a while and have found my ideas helpful, or if you have made changes in your life as a result of something I’ve shared, would you share your gratitude by supporting my work?
P.S. If you are not in a position financially to donate, please do not spend any money at this time! You can help me in other ways. You can give my podcast a 5-start rating on iTunes or wherever you listen, write a review, share my episodes on social media, or leave me a comment.
Whatever level of support you choose, thank you!
