The Freedom of Accepting Who You Are Right Now

The Freedom of Accepting Who You Are Right Now
“When you drop the struggle with shame and accept life as it is without judgment, you find great freedom on the other side. It is freedom to be who you are, exactly as you are. The only real meaning in life is found in being who you are right now, without apologies.”
~ The Velvet Rage. Allan Downs

This quotation makes me proud to be an out, highly functioning gay man. :-)

This quotation also reminds me of why it’s so important for me to proclaim my queer identity, and to be the change I want to see in the world.

Th-Ink Queerly is a double entendre times two.

The Th-Ink is a play on words, figuratively and literally. I want to help people think through writing.

Th-Ink Queerly is a play on the expression, think clearly. I intend the meaning of “different” as part of the larger definition of the word, queer. Hence think differently, think clearly.

I’m helping queers by being a voice for change. Th-Ink Queerly is a place to prove that “difference” is not a threat.

Difference is what saves us and wakes us up to the constraints of the status quo.

By thinking clearly, and thinking differently, we can better understand and address the people, organizations, and governments that are trying to control, oppress, and discriminate against us.

This is not always easy, but it’s worth letting go of shame, loving yourself for who you are, and being proud of your queer identity.

If you’re not proud of who you are, nobody else will be.

If you don’t stand up and proudly proclaim your identity and your existence, you have no chance of being recognized for who you are.

Be who you are. Right now. Without apology.
